In English during the Autumn term, our reading into writing texts are  'Katie in London' and 'The Bog Baby'. Our class text ‘Katie in London’ tells the story of a girl called Katie who goes on a trip with her brother and grandma to visit the amazing sights in London. Year 2 have used the story to help them with writing a non-chronological report on London.

Our class text 'The Bog Baby' tells the story of two little girls who sneak into the woods and find a Bog Baby in a pond, which they catch and secretly bring home to keep as a pet. They keep Bog Baby in a little bucket and feed it cake crumbs. However, the Bog Baby gets poorly and when mum finds the little girls upset they tell her what they did. Year 2 have used the story to help them write their own narrative.

In Maths during the Autumn term, Year 2 have been learning all about place value. We have worked practically to further our knowledge of our tens and ones.

In PE during the Autumn term, Year 2 have been learning and applying some new object control skills. We have focused on working in pairs and in teams, helping us to improve our communication and trust, as well as enhancing our individual skills.

In Art during the Autumn term, Year 2 have been studying printing. We have made prints inspired by the pop artist Andy Warhol using different shaped sponges and colourful paints.

As part of our outdoor learning in the Autumn term, Year 2 have used their time in the woods to collect sticks to use for their hedgehogs. We selected the most appropriate ones, these being the shorter, thinner sticks.
