Anti-Bullying Information for Parents and Carers
At AJA, we are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our students so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere free from oppression and abuse.
What is bullying?
Bullying is an anti-social behaviour and affects everyone. All types of bullying are unacceptable at our academy and will not be tolerated. All students should feel able to tell and when bullying behaviour is brought to our attention, prompt and effective action will be taken. We are a TELLING academy. This means that anyone who is aware of any type of bullying that is taking place is expected to tell a member of staff immediately.

How do we educate our pupils?
We have high expectations of positive behaviour in the academy and work with the children through our carefully planned curriculum and personal development offer.
Here is an overview of some of places where we include this learning;
As an academy, we teach our children about friendships and online safety through RSHE, computing, in assemblies and each time we use electronic devices in class. We regularly work with The Anti-Bullying Company who lead regular sessions with our pupils to highlight the issues involved with friendships and social media use. This year, it has been a focus for us during Anti-Bullying Week with all the year groups.
Students are reminded on a regular basis who they should go to should they wish to speak to someone about an incident of bullying.
If your child is experiencing conflict and does not feel confident to tell a member of staff in the academy, we ask that you inform us as soon as possible so we can address the issue immediately. We can support the pupils as long as we are aware of the situation.
How do we work with our families?
Open Door Policy - the class teacher is the first port of call to raise a concern, however if you want to raise an issue regarding pupils' behaviour or suspected bullying, one of the Inclusion Team is always available to speak to you and arrange a meeting to discuss.
Parental Workshops - we will run regular workshops across the year to support with up to date information. These workshops may include external visitors such as the Police, Kooth mental health service or speakers.
WakeUpWednesday - we share the Wake-Up Wednesday posters with you each Wednesday to share updated information around online and app safety.
Emails - we may send relevant information we have received from the local authority of rising concerns.
